I enrolled in the 3 day navigation course through The Survival University. I was worried before the class because I am 63 and female. I was not sure what sort of reception I would get as I was visualizing a bunch of macho guys. I got instead a warm welcome and got the friendly snuggles of Stryker, the camp canine. The camping and parking areas were great and the scenery was amazing. What an interesting place! Old mines, nice hills, views of Copper mountain and Mineral mountain, and expected temperatures and weather for a camp at 10,000 ft. The class itself was awesome. Class lecture was in the morning (except for one night time class to introduce the idea of night time navigation) in an open wall pavilion. After lecture was hands on in the field. The University sits on several rugged acres with most of the features encountered while navigating. We broke up into teams to navigate. The instructors were always close to help guide us. I loved how the instructors made sure we were getting what they were teaching and would come to each of us to double check that we were getting it. I trialed what I learned today, less than a week after the class. I was able to take and follow an azimuth, recognize features on a map, and I actually was only off by 3-4 feet to the point on a trail I wanted to end up at. And I had the bonus of seeing a bear I apparently woke up. He took off down the hill, I checked my underwear then took off up the hill. I will definitely take more classes with The Survival University.

What a great & educational time! Jason has been very responsive to questions both before, during, and after the trip. I just got home from is basic 2 day wilderness survival course. I can't wait for more. I'm going back in October for the deeper dive 5 day wilderness survival course. If you haven't camped in awhile and are missing the outdoors in your life do yourself a favor and try out the 2 day course he offers. I did and I'm hooked. Thanks for the great 2 days Jason & team!

I just recently completed the 5 day SERE course at The Survival University (TSU) and I did more than just survive. I had never taken a course with them before but now I truly believe everyone should due to the amount of thought, planning and resources used that went into the course was very impressive. You learn from people who have decades of actual experience in the field teaching you skills they use in their profession. The instructors are very well trained and have the students in the forefront of their decision making for their success. Relating themselves to real life scenarios and applications of the specific teachings. I highly recommend taking a course with TSU since you will learn more than what the description reads. Thank you Jason and your team for pushing me and the others beyond what we thought possible.

Just finished the 3-Day Navigation Course. It was extraordinary. Jason and his instructors are professional and true subject experts. Can't believe how much we learned. Highly recommend!

Absolutely outstanding training. I've taken 101 Basics and Land Nav Basics with my Dad, and we had an outstanding time. The skills are incredibly practical and hands-on, giving you a ton of confidence out in the woods. I've also done single-day courses with my 8 year old daughter, and she loves it. They do a great job of keeping the material engaging and fun for kids. Jason is a great instructor, but his best skill is gathering a cadre of instructors who are all excellent. Every teacher is highly knowledgeable and skilled but also great at conveying the material to all skill levels. I highly recommend any of the courses, whether you’re looking to learn fundamentals or a special skill-set.
