Libraries are great and should always be funded. I’ll tell ya what shouldn’t be funded though: pesticides. I did not appreciate that pesticides are applied to the grass surrounding the building. Why have grass if there are toxic chemicals that have been proven to cause cancer in humans and pets and wild animals. Especially when it is so hot out, when I am walking my dog, it is better to have them walk on grass instead of burn their paws. But oh no, let’s have grass that takes too much water (especially stupid in a drought), and then have chemicals that do not allow animals to go on it. Stupid, stupid, stupid. If we have grass, it must be safe and allowable for animals to be on it. If the grass is off limits to animals (humans or pets), then it should be gone because it is such a water sucker and we are in perpetual draught. Not sure if this is a library policy or a city wide policy, but pesticides must be abolished everywhere. They are a terror on our watersheds and ecosystems. If there is a more appropriate place to send the comment to, let me know. But the keep off grass and yellow pesticides applied to grass especially enraged me when libraries and their common spaces outside should be just that - inviting spaces to the public. Not toxic spaces that are funding cancer AND contributing to the drought. If we are going to use the water for green space then the grass should be open AND healthy for humans and animals to be on it. End rant. And again, libraries are wonderful and should always be funded.
View on Google ↗The children's/Youth library area is totally AWESOME!! Puppets, puzzles, kitchen play, summer book reading club that provides books, and so much more! Best library for children I have ever experienced in over 40 years of library life ❤️ 💙 💖
View on Google ↗Only downside to this location is that if you come in 15 or 10 minutes before they close they give you dirty looks and are constantly reminding you you have 10 minutes and they all look annoyed you came in. Hey guys . I worked at a library for a decade. You're not digging ditches all day. Just saying. Otherwise great location and awesome selection too. I took a star off because if you're open til 9 you stay open til 9. If someone comes in at 8:59, as a patron I want to see a smile on all those faces.
View on Google ↗I’m giving this library 4 stars because overall it’s a great place with a lot of helpful resources, but I did have one negative interaction.I visited the Pueblo County Public Library main branch on March 15, 2026. I’m not from the area, so I wasn’t fully familiar with the laptop checkout policy. I had rented a laptop to work on some things and realized I needed to quickly run outside to grab my flash drive. I politely asked the staff member downstairs if she could keep an eye on the laptop for a moment while I stepped out.Unfortunately, she seemed frustrated and had an attitude with me. I explained that someone upstairs had told me I could only rent the laptop once per day, which is why I didn’t want to return it and check it out again. She told me that wasn’t true and that I needed to go upstairs and return it, saying I could rent it multiple times in a day. It seemed like there was just some miscommunication about the policy, but the interaction felt unnecessarily dismissive. That said, the library itself is excellent. It’s a great place for schoolwork, job searching, or just getting things done in a quiet environment. The building offers a lot of resources, including a teen center, youth areas, and even a cafeteria. Most of the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.I understand everyone can have a bad day, but it’s important to remember that staff represent the public face of the library. A little patience and kindness can go a long way, especially when someone is new and just trying to understand the rules.Overall, it’s still a great library and definitely worth visiting.
View on Google ↗Feels good to step into this building. It's big and bright. Staff are friendly, kind, helpful and easy to smile 😁 They are knowledgeable and provide great direction. I felt safe,. security was present, HELPFUL, not intrusive at all. Pretty cool! I appreciate the research section.a lot. Even a vault for the solid books! Very interesting. Pueblo has so much history and I appreciate that the City, not just the library, is helpful, so THANK YOU! LIVE/LOVE PUEBLO!
