My kids and I went to the recent build-a-board workshop and had a great time. Andy, the leader of the workshop, was very welcoming and gave us all kinds of information about skateboarding. We had the feeling that we belonged there, even though we'd never skated before. The board building experience was also really cool, and we're hoping to sign up for lessons soon.

Such a cool place for kids to learn how to skate! We first went on a cold winter night because my son had gotten a skateboard for Christmas, but it was too snowy to ride outside. I will say my son was very intimidated as the entire place requires that you drop-in to start and he had never done that. But the other kids were all nice and offered him chances to try and for only $5, I didn't feel too bad that he didn't stay long. I will add, as a mom, I was bothered that I couldn't easily see him in the other room (when the weather is nice enough, one entire wall is an open garage door - and then it's easy to watch), and the place is in a warehouse type building that is not very well lit, but despite personally feeling like I didn't belong there, the staff or even the other kids, never made me feel that way. Everyone is excited to be able to skate, and I appreciate that it gives kids a 'place to go'. Meanwhile, we've gone back to take classes through them, hosted at local skateparks around town. The teachers are always friendly and professional. The kids have fun, get exercise and learn how to do the basics, so they can advance their skills.

My son (7) has tried a lot of activities that he doesn’t like…basketball, karate, soccer, swim and more. But then he tried skateboarding… And got Mickey as his instructor. What an amazing, caring experience this has been to watch my son in. He goes every week and loves it every week. We’re both grateful and impressed. Mickey is AMAZING with kids and new skaters
