What an exceptional resource in our community. A place for kids who are into the theater, acting, the technical aspects or just not comfortable in other extracurricular activities to find a place to express themselves, to be themselves through imagination, dedication and a little hard work. Plus, the theater itself is enjoyable. It’s easy to see the entire stage(s) and the drinks and popcorn certainly help, too. :) So grateful for what this has done for my son, the confidence building, the friendships and providing a way for him to learn how to do something that can be both challenging and difficult with all the strangers in the crowd. The art store, art classes and library full of art books is also a hit with our family.

Durango Arts Center (“DAC”) is one of my family’s favorite places in Durango. Our relationship with DAC began as a spectator at its wonderful plays. We then sent our kids to DAC’s programs for teens and have been blown away by their productions. My daughter sold paintings in the DAC art gallery. Finally, I have performed in several of their Durango Art Repertory Productions which has been a wonderful experience.

Took a wonderful ink drawing class hosted by Deena. She is such a gifted teacher, with a charismatic and fun passion that radiates from her in everything she does. You can feel how much she loves art in all its forms, and she speaks words of encouragement that everyone should hear. The DAC presents so many opportunities for artists to be seen and welcomed, both old and young. What an incredible place.

So nice to have a venue for live theatrical performances. This venue is minimal in size and viewing from small tables and chairs makes for crowding and obscured viewing of the stage. Love the high quality productions, but this facility does not do them justice.

We saw a flyer for "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare abridged" while we were out to eat one evening and thought hmmm, sounds fun. It was way better than fun — we laughed the whole performance! Shakespeare in football was positively brilliant! Brian Devine, Geoff Johnson, and Jason Lythgoe are super talented. Durango is so lucky to have this Arts Center, we look forward to our next visit!
